HAVE YOU GUYS READ ANY OF THE ADS MERC. HAS OUT NOW ON THEIR NEW PROPULTION SYSTEM, ZEUS?
IT LOOKS LIKE ONLY THE SKEG SHEARS OFF ON IMPACT. ALSO, THEY ARE UP INTO POCKETS WHICH HELP PROTECT THE BODY OF THE DRIVE. GOTTA LOVE MODERN TECHNOLOGY. ALWAYS WONDER WHAT THE NEXT TEN YEARS WILL BE LIKE.

Yes I was thinking about that after reading Merc's info.
Why is that a focus?
Makes me wonder if this angle must be representive of the majority of damage incidents. ???

I BELIEVE THAT MERC IS LOOKING AT VOLVO'S UNIT NOT BEING IN A POCKET, AND THE COMPLETE DRIVE SHEARING OFF. MERC PUTS THEIRS IN A POCKET, WHICH REDUCES LOW SPEED MANUVERABILITY, BUT SHOULDN'T MATTER WITH THE NEW STYLE DRIVE, AND JUST HAS THE SKEG SHEER OFF. I GUESS WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
YOU GUYS TOURING THE FORMULA FACTORY, BE SURE TO ASK IF MERC. ZEUS WILL BECOME AN OPTION.

Found out through the rumor mill that the local SeaRay dealer Marine Max, Is unavailing a 44 foot Zeus powered Sundancer this weekend. I will let you know what feed back I hear.

Troy i got i an invite in the mail to go see that this weekend! I will tell you from seeing the two in FL when i was down along w the perforance data that Zeus looks bad! if you talk to some folks and i dont know the source of this info but merc orginally wanted to put their props forward too and volvo holds 100 + patends on the IPS and the forward props being one of them! Merc will battle this obviously.... IPS has been out for 7 or 8 years in europe and has only been in the us for 4 or 5 years now..... No problems yet!

It will be interesting to see. I believe that Merc is having porpoising issues, Looking at the Zeus they have incorporated a trim tab into the drive itself. I am just speculating and have not seen or been on one yet.

Has anyone seen a Zeus powered boat for sale? What happend to the 46 Cobalt?
There are several new IPS boats each month in the boat mags. Never seen a CMD Zeus other than prototypes.

just checked searay's website. they are not showing zeus as an option yet, but are advertising it in magazines.
