Momentary Alarm with no visible problem

Does anyone have this problem. My 2003 40PC unwarranted sounds off an alarm. All gauges show perfect running conditions. The alarm is the same main warning alarm for over low oil pressure, over heating, ignition left on, etc... It is triggered for between half a second to maximum 2 seconds. It freaks me out and I check all gauges. To my relief all is well. It does it more when I come down to idle after a hot run. I thought the oil pressure would drop so much due to a low idle, so i increased the idle speed to 700-750 rpm and I still have the alarm.

Has anyone had this issue and identified what could be causing it?
It is obviously a sensor somewhere that is progressively worse. Any help in the right direction is appreciated.

My first reaction was could one of your batteries be going bad ....thus the low voltage situation triggering the alarm.

I think you have an alarm for low raw water pressure but it may be measuring temperature. You may want to check impellers or your raw water screens. Another thought would be that it's time to clean the raw water system, the intercoolers can get clogged up and you may need to have them cleaned so the water flows better.

My assumption is that you have Yanmars, I'm not familiar with gas engines.

La Cozzi Vita I think that you have Yanmars. If you do there is a float sensor for water coming in. I have my alarm go off every now and then like you. It usually happens when I am backing up and switching to forward. I have replaced the float sensor cause I could see some wear on it. Mack Boring said to eliminate it but obviously I did not.

Thank you all for the replies.
I agree with The Grand Wazzoo. I believe that could be my issue. I am going to start there. I have the part number to the switch, but can you guide me as to its location?

Its a little confusing in the parts book. I originally ordered the wrong switch. Correct part # is 129593-91420.Looking at the motor by the transmissionit is on top to the right hand side. There are 2 wires coming out of a square shaped nut.

Hang on though, when you come off plane and if you have water in your bilge that could lift the float to set off the Alarm and then when it settles it goes away.
You may not have a sensor issue...

Just saying...

If this is obvious, then ignore of course

No, its not the high water alarm. I know what that sounds like. This is the engine management alarm. It happens when I go to idle after engine has been run and sometimes while under way. The high water alarm has a delay and the float switch needs to be engaged for 3 seconds before it sounds.

Yes I agree thousand percent just always trying to make sure the lowest common denominator is considered

I have had a similar issue on a my boat powered with D6 Volvos however it is during longer idle periods vs coming off a hot run and it lasts longer but always clears itself out. All my gauges read perfect but when I dig deeper into the Volvo information display I am actually getting a high exhaust temp reading - something that your typical gauges cannot pick up. TAG thinks it is a water flow issue so as previously mentioned check those strainers. It could just be something to do with the way the water is interrupted coming off plane.
