My 260ss Upgrades

Nice Foxman! That's my favorite graphic for these years and beyond jealous of your dock/lift setup. Good luck with the ice fishing

How about an update of how the BBQ grill is working for you? Wanting to do almost exactly what you did on our 97 280SS, we have the extended swim platform, and love it. We fish a little also....Wife insists. lol.

Can't say I've used it in windy conditions all that much so not sure how it performs in those conditions. As for "run off" I've only cooked two burgers and a few hot dogs each time I've used it and I don't remember anything needing to be cleaned off the deck. I could see potential issues if you were cooking a lot of hamburgers as it's a small grill and you can only ask so much from it

So now that Tapatalk is working again, figured I'd post a couple pics of the bimini extension and camper fill ins I had made a while back.

Also got a shot of the LED lighting I installed a while back and the red lights I installed in the gauges

Haven't done any new updates lately, mostly just use and normal maintenance. I did replace the flakey engine hatch actuator with a new unit from Motion... thought I had pics but guess not.

Anyway hope everyone is enjoying their Formulas this season!

Andy

What a great thread....got a lot of good info on here from your post. Thanks for taking the time!

Do you happen to have a hose attachment for washing out the engine without using the earmuffs?

Also, might be a stupid Q but where do you pump out the head to when you get back to the house?

Thanks! Hope it helped spark some ideas for your own boat.

I do not have a washout for the engine, but would be interested in one.... just never got around to it cause I rarely have the need to flush while in the water/on a lift.

As for the pump out, I have a sewer clean out at the house I use for dumping the RV and the boat. Makes a crappy job a bit more tolerable...lol

Andybellus,
Looks fantastic.
I'd love to pick your brain about the gauge replacements. I have a 280BR and I'd like to replace all the instruments.
Did the Faria gauges "drop in" to the factory cut outs? Any alterations? Your old gauges are the same "rear mount VDO's that I have so I'd like to make the same change.

Thanks in advance for your reply

Thanks!

The stock panel just needs a small amount of “opening up” for the smaller 2” gauges, I wanna say 1/16 all the way around, 1/8 total

The larger gauges( tach/MPH) needed to have a a good amount removed for them to fit maybe 1/4” and also had to order those two in the larger gauge size than what is offered in the “set” they offer.

I used a Dremel tool make it all work, wasn’t that bad.

Thought I’d posted all that info but maybe not I’ll have to go back and see what all I posted it’s been awhile.

Good luck!
Andy

i tried a similar pump but it bogged down and blew the fuse without pumping, does this one actually pump out the tank

Also boat will be up for sale shortly. if you know anyone that may be interested in a very clean and well taken care of 260ss in CA please let me know. Thx

Looks awesome! I keep a 280SS in Cabrillo / San Pedro for runs to Catalina as well. Two questions if you don't mind - First, how much does that inverter kill your batteries? Could I use it overnight for stuff at the Island? Second, did those new guages fit the stock holes in the dash / stock senders, etc.? I wouldn't mind doing that but do NOT want to run cables, etc.

Thanks!

Steve

I know really old thread but I don't get on here much. Hey that's a real nice looking 260 Andy. GLWTS!
Every year I threaten to sell our 260 but never do. It's a 2000 bought in 2010 and still in great shape. We love it for what it is and our needs - a perfect trailering size day boat.
Not a fan the graphics but honestly I don't like any Formula graphics. Even the new ones. Fortunately I can't see it from the helm hehe. The boat itself tho top notch.
