Mystery gas spring and wires in 2006 34 PC engine bay

I recently purchased a 2006 34 PC and in the engine bay discovered an Attwood gas spring, two cut wires, what might be a switch or sensor and the remnants of what appears to be a connecting rod, to what I don't know. See the included photo. This is on the port side aft hanging from a plate fixed to the underside of the cockpit deck. The photo is taken looking aft from the access hatch forward of the engines. My mechanic has no idea what these items might have been associated with so I hope someone on the Forum might have an idea what they are or were attached to and used for. The former owner is in Europe and not reachable.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Mystery solved. Talked to Formula service and it appears the previous owner disconnected the transom door sensor assembly. So I'll have some fun in a tight spot reconnecting everything.

Gasp. On a 400ss this prevents breaking the transom door when lifting the hatch. I cant imagine that plexiglass door is cheap....
