Odor in fresh water.

Hello all, I have odor in the fresh water tank and I?m looking for direction on the easiest way to flush it / add solution. I have heard that you can use a little bleach in this situation??. 2016 31br. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx

Drain water tank and add about 1/4 tank of water and 1/2 cup bleach. Run water in all faucets hot and cold until you smell bleach. Leave solution sit in the lines for about an hour and drain remaining solution out of all faucets until tank is empty. Dilute 1 box of baking soda in a 2 liter bottle with water and add to the tank filling it to 1/4. Flush all lines with baking soda to neutralize the bleach. This will clean all of your lines and tank.
Filter all incoming water after this process and add a water treatment weekly to keep the system fresh.

Excellent. Thank you. Is there a way to drain the tank, outside of running the sinks? I’m afraid of burning out the motor.

Now you won't burn out to more motor... you can pause every 10 minutes or so just in case but you should be good to go

Would you recommend taking a ride while the bleach is in the tank, to clean the tank better?

For sure that can't hurt but it would have to be a pretty rough ride for it to be effective... most of the dunk will most likely be near the bottom of the tank anyways so.

Hi, adding to this thread of smelly water. However I don?t think the problem is my holding tank, I think it?s my lines. I am going to run some of the aqua solution through the lines, but not sure if that will be sufficient as I think these lines are pretty gunked up. Any suggestions? AndIf yes, please let me know if any of the chemicals or solutions you are suggesting can go through the water heater, or I should bypass? I?d like to rinse out the water heater as well but less concerned as I assume once the heater is on it would burn any of the junk that?s in there or was in there

I might add to run all the hot water out of the water heater before you start. (Use an outdoor faucet or this part of the process will stink up your cabin.) Then when you initially turn on the water pump to distribute the tank solution, it will re-fill the water heater first?which is often the origin of the problem. You?ll notice the pump running a long time with no fixture open. That?s the water heater filling. Once the pump shuts off, run every fixture until the bleach water mixture starts running out. Don?t forget the anchor wash down. And leave the water pump on when you let solution set in the lines for an hour or so. Of course, leave the dock water supply off during this process.

A cup or two of vinegar in the second flush does the same thing as the baking soda rinse of one has that lying around.

Nice post, Gary. This seems to come up annually.

Hi guys. How do you get the bleach into the holding tank. I am used to a deck opening for the water system. When I put my water hose into the solution and turned on the fill button it did not suck it up

There isn’t any vacuum on the fill side. Just pour the bleach into your fresh water hose then hook up to the city water and switch to tank fill, turn on the city water to send the beach into the tank. Same thing when you go to neutralize the bleach with the baking soda solution.

Thank you so much. I am a little embarrassed that I did not think about that. Spent most of yesterday trying to figure out how to get the bleach into the tank.

Since we both have the same year boat can I ask you for a favor, next time you are at your boat would you take a picture of the back of the fresh water connection in the engine room? My plastic L fitting that connects to the brass compression fitting will not stay together so I am wondering if the PO changed something with this connection.

Thank you. Ray

You should still be under warranty, I’d have the Marina diagnosis these issues and file a claim with Cornerstone. I mean, I take care of the little things myself and don’t waste the rime with a claim, but you should be able to have things covered.

I will try and remember to get you a pic, but it won’t be until at least next Friday until I’m back.

Dave
