Offshore fishing in your 260

I recently went offshore fishing with my brother in law in his Triton 240 LTS. It was a nice calm day with 2 ft chop on the way out and calm seas offshore. While not ideal for fishing my Formula rides way better than his boat and I've been thinking why couldn't I make the occasional nice weather trip 35 miles or so in my boat? Anyone done this??

Your question is a bit open - offshore fishing is very different of the coast of Southern FL than it is in New England if you are running to the Canyons. So I think a little more detail will provide you with better feedback. However, assuming you are comfortable running 35 miles off shore in your 260 then fishing is no different than running. I think your most important question is safety equipment. For me the obvious items are a must at those distances: Ditch bags, back up radios, EPIRBS, Radar, etc. in addition to typical fishing gear.

You might post this on a site like The Hull Truth to get safety and running feedback from outside the Formula family where there is some dedicated fisherman.

Great post.

35 miles offshore in a Bow-Rider is negligent IMHO. The weather can turn to shit and your 1 hour ride out can turn into a 4-5 hour nightmare ride home. I'm in Buzzards Bay and sold the formula and got into a Downeast hull just so I could use the boat. It turns to Crap most afternoons here.
