power steering delete port motor?

I developed a p/s leak behind the port engine. hard to see where the connection is bad (cooler,hose) has anyone bypassed the p/s pump with a different belt set up?
I also had a idler go bad and tossed a belt. who is making the best idler replacements?
 
Don't know who makes the best but all have worked

What type of motor? I did a port side PS pump delete (pump, bracket, and hoses) on my 31PC that had 7.4 Merc's in it. Just needed a shorter belt.
 
Only my strb has a power steering pump... what are yours hooked to? I would also just buy the shorter belt, and leave it on the block if you need it you could hook it up?

or take it off and leave it at home.
 
On mine, it was essentially just a loop. It pumped fluid through the cooler on the back of the motor and then returned back to the pump.
 
Yeah, I'd just get the shorter belt, bypass the pump to reduce wear/tear. Drain the system, and keep the pump in my basement as a spare.
