Quicksilver 7.5 Questions

I posted this a few days ago but the thread hasn't shown up for some reason?? Anyway, I know that most of the newer stuff is all about the Kohler but we are still rockin the mid 90's Quicksilver 7.5. She's been pretty solid but we are starting to have an issue that I find unusual. For no apparent reason and after running for usually at least an hour and often times longer it ATTEMPTS to die and then eventually does die. I say attempts because when it initially starts dying it tries to restart itself. on it's own. Three or four times it does this and then finally dies. I've never known of a generator trying to restart itself, is that normal? After it dies, it typically won't start again for a little while, maybe 30 minutes to an hour. Any of you guys with the vintage equipment experience ever run into anything like this?

I had never herd of a Generator starting itself, the only thing I could find on subject was
(“Generator had wires that were rubbing together causing the generator to start by itself. It seems strange to me that the design would be such to allow this to happen, but it did.”)
Maybe other members have herd of your situation

Formula Tenn,

You and I have the same gen. I have had similar situations, the exception being re-starting. Mine has never on its own. Would run for several hours, then would begin to shutdown. Would not restart. An hour or so later, start right up. My solution was to change the fuel pump, which was overheating and the diaphragm would stop making proper pressure.

Here is a good source for parts since these units were discontinued.

Hope this helps a little.
