Replace Windlass motor

How do I access the windlass motor compartment in my 2002 27PC?
It seems like it's only from the deck...no interior access.

Would come from the forward berth and have to cut into the anchor locker. Can gain a slight bit more access by removing the entire hatch (outer ring) by the anchor

Thanks guys. Before I go to the nuclear option, does anyone know the location of the WINDLASS SOLENOID on the 2002 27PC? I haven't checked it.

Yes, its in the engine room below the bat switches, should have a label on it "windless". Had to replace mine some years back, kept forgetting to turn it off. Bought 2 at the time

My windlass stopped working with the anchor on its way down in 30 feet of ocean. Four of is had a heck of a time pulling in back onto the bow but, we did. Turned out something in the electrical system for the entire boat had rusted out and had to be replaced....knock wood all good and this was 3 years ago.

Not to hijack this thread, but we blew a gear on our Lewmar V1 windlass (with 95' of chain and anchor out). I replaced the OEM Concept 1 windlass roughly 2007-8. Exposure is limited at best. I know I greased the keyed shaft at the time of installation. I did remove the quick connect collar but the gearbox motor combo doesn't want to drop free even with some not so gentle tapping. I think I can get a gear puller into the space to separate the 2 halves. Any thoughts?
