Replacing Cockpit Flooring

We're looking at replacing the cockpit flooring in our 2011 34PC. As the existing flooring is snap down, we want to go that route but we also really like the foam cushioning of Seadek, although not the adhesive installation. We see that MarineMat is similar to Seadek and comes in snap down. Does anyone have any experience using MarineMat? Or does anyone know any other companies who do snap downs with the thick padded mats? We are looking to go with a grey teak styled option. Thanks much.

We just put in SeaDek through out the cockpit and swim platform on our 41PC. We have had it in a previous boat and liked it a lot.

For some reason, Marine Mat appears to be a lot less than Seadek. Someone in my marina has a fishing boat that he did in Seadek and it looks great but cost $4300 installed. We're in NYC area so I expect high prices, but that seems a little too high to me. According to Marine Mat's template price for a 2005 34PC, my boat should cost around $1300. I'd be self installing, but with pre-existing snaps, that's super-simple. Maybe seadek is thicker? Marinemat is 9mm. I'm waiting for a price on 12mm.

Yes, we had some stress cracking on the top so covering it with SeaDek was a simple fix for the cracking. It is a known issue with the 41PCs.
How does the white part hold up with dirt? Considering black grout lines for that reason but I really like the way white looks.

Don’t know yet since it was just installed. We bought some of the SeaDek specific cleaner. We also thought about black lines but really liked the look of the white. We are very careful with our things so I don’t think that it will be a problem.

I went with SeaDek on the swimstep and new carpet from Corinthian elsewhere. SeaDek has yet to come, but the carpet is awesome. With the backing I picked, no need to snap down. It really does not even move. SeaDek has a snap down option as well.

+1 on the Corinthian.
This stuff is bulletproof and has been in use on our boat for at least 15 years, perhaps longer - and still looks new.
Easily cleaned with soap and water on the pier, it is indeed heavy enough with the backing that we (and apparently ckatek) have on our carpets to not need snaps, to stay put without sliding around, and to not blow out when underway. It?s heavy stuff and the one narrower strip between the helm and settee seats that may move a bit is easily tamed by putting under it a piece of that waffle non-slip rubber stuff that they sell at Lowes and is sometimes used for shelf liners.
This Corinthian product is soft and cool underfoot and never pills. I prefer it hands down to the snap-in weave stuff currently used by Formula.

I installed my SeaDek on the swimstep, and could not be happier...with it only there. The carpet is so much better underfoot than the SeaDek. The benefit of the SeaDek on the swimstep is that it is very nonskid when wet, something that could not be said of the faux teak Formula had on the swimstep. That stuff is a bit scary when wet, and searingly hot here in Arizona.

Formula 34PC - just bought the MarineMat stick down for swim platform and expect to do the same for the cockpit. No difference in material or thickness between MarineMat and Seadeck EVA Foam according to my research. They sent their template. some very minor modifications but sending it back shortly. Am upgrading the adhesive for future removal. They have a patented removal process adhesive so when you do go to remove the flooring it all comes up in one piece. Our 2005 has the bronze seat lines and IMRON hull paint so going with Toffee and black bottom. Excited to see how it turns out... Oh and I am customizing and having the thunderbird and formula name on the swim platform.

Can't wait to install.

Thanks for the info and link sgilfus.
I'm interested in covering our swim platform only and in your progress, but when I go to MarineMat's site it says "MarineMat has temporarily stopped taking retail orders. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back soon or contact your dealers."
Did you work with corporate before they shut down their retail direct service, or are you working through a local dealer (and if so, which one).
Thanks

Oh shoot - I am seeing that now, as well on the top of their site.

I ordered direct - using that form - I guess when I said "just bought" it was early April when I secured the order.
so I am probably already in their order cue.

Just need to send the template back. Will post pictures when complete.

Got it. Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing your updates!

Finally got the marine mat install completed in my 34 PC. Straight up awesome. I'll drop some pictures in shortly. Now that the cockpit is done I plan on custom templateing the walk through steps as well as the non-skid that passes through the window and the non-skid in the center of the bow between the sundaes. Thinking of going al the way to the windlass. Pictures to come shortly.

Here you go. Toffee on Black - 9MM two color - three layer - Marine Mat - Stick -It version for all.
https://www.marinemat.net/formula.html

They lasered in the Formula logo for me as well. Was a simple DIY project, power washed floor, removed all snaps, caulked snap holes with marine caulk, wiped cockpit floor with Acetone, let dry, and then peel and stick.

They already had a template for the 34 PC, so not templating required, I just had them add the logos where I wanted them.

Ignore the overlap in the second picture this was mid project and I hadn't gotten to fitting and sticking down those two pieces.
FYI - Marine Mat is fiber reinforced so when you go to take it up an individual piece, it comes up in a single piece, and doesn't fall apart into little pieces that you have to scrape off like other manufacturers.

Hope this helps. Totally transformed the boat for us and wife loves the soft and stable feel under feet. The full boat picks were prior to cockpit floor install.

That looks really great! We ordered with marine mat last year too, but had a couple of issues with them. Be warned that if you go for a greater thickness than standard, you will have a black band around outside of mat. No where on website tells you this; nor did they mention it to us. Had I known, I’d have gotten black grout lines, but of course I went with white. In any event, it’s mostly snap except for swim platform and stairs to bow, which are adhesive. We are looking for someone to do install though. Once we get it done, I’ll post picks. Went with grey with white grout lines. I didn’t do whole bow though. Id love to see what that looks like if you do!

Just installed our marine mat snap down in the cockpit today. I wish it didn’t have the black band that the company entirely failed to mention to me, but I can live with it and other than that it’s great! Love that I can just lift it out and hose it down. Still need to do swim platform, though. That part must be stickdown but when we took up old platform, the glue is close to impossible to remove, so we are looking to get some professional assistance on that.
