Salon Flooring

Hi All,

Anyone replace the carpeting in the salon, master cabin and aft cabin? I am thinking about the product which looks like wood, think it is a vinyl tile of some sort. Any suggestions or advice?

I actually have the "faux wood" flooring in mine and am looking to install carpeting. I think carpet is so much nicer on bare feet.

You want to trade?

I've talked with Mr. Porter at the boat show regarding the upgrade from carpet to flooring. He stated that the fiberglass under the carpeting will not be "finished", so therefore will not be completely flat to install flooring directly on top. He says you would need to pour a self-leveling agent before you install flooring.

What he said! If you can get to a good level surface with too much fuss you can pretty much use whatever you like. The LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) or plank is a good choice since it isn't gonna be affected by wetness. That is what I went with.

I used a belt sander to level the floor to knock off the high spots and followed up with self leveling agent.
Attached is a picture of the cherry wood floor I installed.

I finally tackled doing a "faux wood" on our '05 PC... I still have some detailing/finishing up to do, but already it's an upgrade from the carpet we had, which was trashed......

IMG_2289.jpgNot sure how bad other boats were, but mine was pretty bad. You won't believe what carpet hides! I used a subfloor for my vinyl plank flooring. Also, the cleats needed to be extracted and replaced with full perimeter aluminum L-brackets to help support rigidity with the entire floor.
