Salon TV &DVD replacement

Hi All,

I know I have posted about this before or rather, asked this question before however, I cannot find the thread. I want to replace the TV above the refrigerator in the salon on my 2002 41 PC. It appears that a 32" would be the size to get. I do not know how to actually get the old Panasonic out of the space first of all. It appears to be sitting on the refrigerator but I am assuming there is kind of shelving under it. I see a black piece of "board" which seems to fill in the gap between the top of the TV and the top of the space it occupies. I think once I get it out, a wall of Formica or some such board would have to be placed and a TV mount attached to it. And of course, a space under the TV big enough for a DVD to be placed. Am I thinking about this the right way? I know a bunch of you have done this upgrade already so, I welcome any advice.

On another upgrade note....anyone replace the salon carpeting with what looks like wood flooring but I believe it to be vinyl? Love some helpful feedback on that as well.

"tanks" All,

I can't help you on the specifics of that model but I would probably consider a TV with the DVD built in if possible. That would avoid having to fill in the space around the DVD (at least that is what I'm picturing in my mind). Also, if you use DVDs it might be a good time to look into another way of viewing to completely eliminate that issue.

I need to look at how I did this but do remember having to loosen around the cabinet. Once you get tv out you will be amazed how much space you have. I have a 32” tv mounted on a swivel hinge and have a DVD player with surround speaker where old tv used to be.

There is even a receptacle back there :)

Hi divergirl. I have the same boat and the previous owner did the upgrade you are looking for. Search his old posts
under boathound. May have the info you need.

I am in the process of upgrading my TV right now. I can send pics of when its done. I have removed the TV and found a TV that fit the area. I am still in the process of making a black cabinit door below the new TV to house the kids Xbox for games and movies as well as a AppleTV.
