Smartcraft Blue CAN Line Routing

I’m running the 10-pin blue CAN line for my Smartcraft and one end has a yellow label near the connector that says, “Termination Resistor On This End”. Does anyone know if this should be hooked up to the engine harness, the junction box,or doesn’t matter? TIA

I am installing a smartcraft network now. That end goes to the engine(s) CAN bus harness

Hope this helps.

Having worked for an electronic joystick company before, my chief engineer educated me on terminating resistors. Some CAN networks are very sensitive to the physical layout and need a 120 Ohm resistor to make the system work correctly due to multiple CAN devices on a network. I have since killed all those brain cells and cannot be much more help. I do remember a customer in Sweden had some issue with his entire system not working correctly. After numerous repair efforts, my Chief Engineer told the Field Service guys to put a Terminating Resistor in the circuit. Voila! All the problems went away. Good luck.

Thanks both of you, I routed it with the termination resistor at the engine harness side. I hope to finish the installation later this week, I'll let you know how it goes.
