Hi all - I sold my 2015 Formula 45 at the end of 2021 when I ordered my 430 SSC at the Newport boat show. I visited the factory in Decatur with my two sons during construction which was a neat experience and took delivery of ?Crowd Pleaser? in May?22. It was a great summer learning about and enjoying our new boat. We took many outings with friends and family and got so many positive comments on the ?open feel?! Mostly we boat in and around Narragansett Bay in RI but we did make one weekend trip up Buzzard?s Bay and through the Cape Cod Canal to Sandwich, MA. I hope for more weekends away this upcoming summer. Anyway - just wanted to ?break the ice? here in the SSC forum in case other owners are looking to connect.

I am burning over 80 GPH cruising at 41 MPH with 400R Verrado's on my 2019 43 ASC. Any suggestions in improving consumption will be greatly appreciated. Blessings

That does sound high. The Boattest article references the Formula test of the 430 ASC at 66 gal/hr at 41mph and their own test of the 430 SSC at 58 gal/hr at about the same speed/rpm with a slightly different prop. Those numbers are closer to my own experience too - going from memory.

Maybe your auto-trim is mis-calibrated? Perhaps you could try manually trimming the engines to see if you can do better than the auto?

Really nice ride.
Don't understand the 400R's on the boats and not just the 400. The gear case is smaller for less drag but with a boat this size it's not going to be the item that's slowing it down.

I had originally spec’d the boat with 400’s but as the build was progressing Formula contacted me to say that the white 400’s were unavailable due to supply chain issues and they could not give me a new delivery date. They offered black 400’s at the same price or white 400R’s at a higher price. After looking at updated renderings of the black engines, I wound up going with the white 400R’s because I wanted white and didn’t want to wait an unspecified period of time for delivery. Supply Chain strikes again.
