Spotlight on 07 31 PC goes right>left/left>right but does NOT go up and down

Any thoughts on my most recent challenge i.e., the Chrome Round Spotlight on my 2007 31 PC does not go up and down.

I removed the panel from the dashboard, popped off the back of the control, removed all removable connections and plugged them back in and still no luck.

Someone suggested that the motor on the light may be bad. This didn't seem to make sense to me since it works going right > left and visa virsa.

Any troubleshooting thoughts?

Could be the gears in the housing up front....I thought I remembered another thread that was similar.

I had the problem on my last boat and it turned out to be the control switch. It was a Guest or a Jabsco chrome unit. Sorry, I can't remember which brand it was.

i believe there are seperate motors that control the side to side and up/down. you may be able to service/replace just the motor you are having trouble with. also, the control switch can be completely disassemble and all the contacts cleaned, just make sure you mark the wires.

Roger that. Will do. I will also contact ITT Jabsco (Manufactures of the Light) tomorrow to see if they can help @ 978 281-0440 - Gloucester, MA.

This may be a project that I wait to do until November 1st when I pull the boat for the Fall/Winter. I have a feeling that working on it in place I most definitely will drop something in the water.....

Note: The JABSCO documentation in my Formula Binder that came with the Boat (dated 2000) says that I have Model 62022-3002. Nope - After checking on the Internet and comparing my light, I definitely have Model 62022-4002. Not sure whether I have the Zinc or Brass Base but I guess that doesn't mater since my challenge in in the mechanism housed in the light itself

My spot light would go up / down but not right / left. Turned out to be a stripped gear. I got replacement gears online and fixed it myself. A lot of work and a couple plastic gears were about 40 bucks but still cheaper than a new light.

FormulaTenn is correct there are two motors. Have somebody on the deck listen while you move the toggle. You'll hear stripped geras grinding. If no noise then it's the motor or the switch.

Will do. Thx, didn't think of sending someone forward to hear if the motor was running or not.....
