I upgraded my stereo to a new Kenwood unit that accepts iPod and iPhone. I have to wire a new remote to the dash. Tips on how to pass the wire from the cockpit instrument panel to the cabin would be appreciated. I can get from the radio and pass the wire to the back of the AC/ DC panel in the cabin but am not able to make the pass into the cockpit panel area.

Did you talk with TAG?

I have a 41PC and when I had a new remote unit installed they dropped down into the aft cabin and then went across. My CD changer is in the aft cabin storage cabinet so there were wires already making the run. The storage cabinet should back up to the companionway stairs. I'm not familiar with the 40 setup but I have a storage cabinet on the left going down so if you have the same that is another point you can pull the wires across. Good luck with it.

Everthing would appear to be covered with liner panels. My tv is above the rear berth and the power and video lines are all behind panels. The tall closet next to the electric controls appears to be built in place don't know that I would want to drill any holes, but it abutts to the under side of the dash which you can access by unscrewing a dash console panel. The stateroom is water sealed from the engine room and that means any wires coming from the cockpit to the stateroom go through conduit that has been foamed closed.

All I can tell you is it's a tough job. I had to run speaker wires fro the cabin where all the electronics are to the helm area where I installed a subwoofer. The hard part is getting wires from the area on the starboard side of the cabin ( behind the ACDC panel) through the mass of wires that pass through the bulkead to the cockpit area. Formula has that area sealed up very tight. I eventually was able to push a snake through but it took many many trys Good Luck

Spoke to Formula techs. They recommended opening the breaker panels on the stbd cockpit next to the floor and try to pass the wire. Really tough and I did not get very far. I see wiring looms and maybe I have to go inside the loom with a soft nosed wire passer.
Thanks for your advice.
