I had a '86 302 with Kaama drives on it a few years ago. Never had problems with the drives themselves, but had thrown a gimble bearing in one of the screws and replaced all bearings and u-joints. I found the system to be pretty straight forward. I understand it is getting harder and harder to find parts. I have seen your posts on OSO, and I enjoy seeing pictures of your boat.

I've heard that all the internals are available over the counter. The only thing you can't buy is the case, and the boots. For instance, the u joints are Spicers that you can buy at most any parts place.

I've been away from the surface drives for awhile, and I am sure you know more about them then me, but I replaced my boots and I got them through Archer in CA. I don't know if they are still around. For some reason, the boots they sent me were to short, I stretched them on, but they ripped a short time after. The boots were the biggest headache for me.

OSO is another boating related website which contains forums and classifieds.

I have never seen those drive's before, how is the midrange speed? can you cruise good on 3000 rpm's?

I've never heard of anyone ever blowing a Kaama drive, but then again, threre aren't nearly as many of them out there as Bravos. I've had mine over three years with no problems. They don't make them anymore. :(
