I self installed SeaDek directly over the teak. Removing the teak appeared to be a likely frustrating task. If you go that route, request SeaDek do three panels, not 5 like mine was broken up. This will eliminate you seeing the teak through breaks in the Seadek. I have had the SeaDek one season, and have not had any issues. Cooler, and less slippery (most importantly) that the teak, which burned feet.
