The Admiral's new $$ Upgrades $$

Well the Admiral decided it time to upgrade the fleet. We have or are having the following upgrades done to our 31PC "Element for Life".

1) Had a 30" HDMI TV installed over the aft berth.
2) Had remote cable TV connection wired to the cockpit for TV viewing upstairs.
3) Had a HDMI gaming port installed on the ledge behind the dinette seat with the cable running to the newly installed TV.
4) Had a custom made hanging cherry shelf installed just to the left of the power center and hanging from the overhead cabinets above the dinette for my son's Xbox. (Plugs into the new HDMI interface below it)
5) Having all new hardwood floors (By Mirage) installed in the cabin, including the aft berth floor and the steps leading up to the master berth.
6) Having the original steps leading down to the cabin replaced with Formula factory cherry wood stairs.

I know it seems a bit much but as everyone hear says a "HAPPY ADMIRAL" is a good thing to have on the boat. ;D ;D ;D Besides now she can't complain about how much gas I use ::) ::)

I have attached some pictures of the construction.

im very interested in that hardwood conversion. how are you handling the step ledges, the ones around the v-birth and going into the mid cabin for example? i'm having trouble figuring out how I could do it, any advice?

They guy installing the floors has been doing boats for a long time. As soon as he sends me some pictures I will post to show what he did. I think for the edge of the aft berth step he is making a thin flexible mahogany molding that will be stained to match the flooring. I will post as soon as I get pictures of that area.

Love the TV. I have a 24 (whatever comes from factory) installed. I was under the assumption a 30 inch TV didn't fit. Wonder if I could use the factory mount and hang a 30 inch in mine.

The only issue would be the location of the mounting bracket. If the TV mount is center it may hang to low depending on the location of the mount. I actually found this TV at Target.com as it is 30" but with hardly any outside frame an it is only 1 1/2" thick. We were just able to squeeze it in.

Some more updated pictures.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I am considering doing some work. I want to hook my TV to my sound system, which surprisingly wasn't done from the factory. I also want to set up an HDMI run or two so I can plug in my Xbox or my laptop and watch Netflix without having to string cables everywhere. I often go spend the night on the boat and watch antenna TV, but in crappy weather it can be annoying. I have cable internet at my marina so hooking up to my router would be easier than watching over the air TV.

Hi Big, few questions

1 what product from Mirage is it? this may answer all our questions. web site is here. http://www.miragefloors.com/ENG/
2 is it real hard wood all the way thru or just a 1/4 inch on top
3 is it inter locking or just tounge and groove
4 is he putting down an underlayment
5 is the wood going under the wall material around the head? or just but up against it

Hope i sumed up the questions in one post.. I really really like this ;D

DITTO, I'd love to do this in the cabin.
Maybe the cockpit and platform too...
BTW -do they have a material that can be submerged (in salt water) on a hydrualic lift?

Answers I have so far:

1 what product from Mirage is it? this may answer all our questions. web site is here. http://www.miragefloors.com/ENG/
Mirage Exotic Series Color-Santos Mahogany
2 is it real hard wood all the way thru or just a 1/4 inch on top
Real hardwood over a plywood base
3 is it inter locking or just tongue and groove
Interlocking
4 is he putting down an underlayment
Underlayment was already there under the carpet. Where he is on glass will be glued. Installer in beveling the edges where the hull curves upward.
5 is the wood going under the wall material around the head? or just but up against it
Will find out shortly.

In regards to Question 5 it looks like he was able to tuck it underneath from where the carpet used to be. I have attached some more pictures.

looks like you picked a well seasoned installer, that job is incredible. if you get any photos of any step edges or ledges once done, i'd love to see them.
