transom mount transducer 370ss

Looking for a advice on a transom mount transducer for a 370ss. best type and location to mount it in to work with my Garmin1243xsv. trying to avoid interference from the stepped hull. Thanks
 
That's going to be the most aerated water. In front of the first step will be the cleanest. Im surprised any formula came out of the factory without a installed transducer...?

It has the standard depth transducer but I'm looking to get an improved image for a garmin 1243xvs. Hate to add any holes in a boat if it can be avoided. Thanks for replying.
 
I’ve been mentally debating how to mount a transducer too - no stepped hull though. Personally my focus is trolling speed or slightly above, not on plane. Have been looking at glue on transom block but nervous about holding power at speed. If money was no object I would go with a high end through hull, may be what you need for the stepped hull.
