Upgrading Volvo EVC 7" display

Hello all, I just purchased a 2012 310SS with twin Volvo 8.1 400hp, joystick and the 7" EVC display. Has anyone replaced the older style Volvo display with the new 7607? I believe the new Volvo 7" is a Garmin 7607 unit. If so, was it plug and play or did you have to modify anything?

So I am in a similar situation....I have a 2009 with EVC "C" - and the display is terrible. I am told I don't have an easy upgrade path...however this display looks promising. Will try to dig and of course perhaps we can learn together. I have a Diesel setup, but not sure if that matters....
 
I have searched everywhere online for a picture of the back of the EVC display and can't seem to find one. I dont have access to the boat right now, so if anyone is able to take one, that would be appreciated.
 
I will be doing an upgrade for the next few months to dual Garmin 8612xsv displays, but will be keeping the original Volvo displays for engine data (as well as integrating a volvo gateway) I'll post the results on the forum
 
I'm subscribing to this thread also! I'm looking for a direct replacement, I like having two separate units so if something goes wonky with one. The OEM display is dated but rock solid.

I wonder if we have the same "legacy" Volvo Branded Helm View. I recently upgraded my main MFD, but all the details from my Helm View of course won't display unless I spend another $1K for an interface that I am not even sure what I will get.

Strange how yours looks way more modern than mine....I wonder if I got caught in Foruma's lean years and they had a 1980's display they rigged to work :)

If you happen to know your model or if you have details from your build sheet, i would LOVE to learn more as what you have is what i am looking for.
 
I went through this a while back. I have an 07 400SS with diesels and EVC-C with the same displays as jlanka. You can not swap those displays with the 7" or even the color 4" displays. Maybe if you start changing EVC computers but even then I couldn't get a straight answer from my tech or even Volvo and I wasn't wiling to be the guinea pig. You can however get the NMEA module and get your engine data on the Garmin. As of last spring, at least my vintage, would not work with the easy connect, I had to use the old module. What you do not get is error codes and alarm information so you really still need to keep the EVC's on the dash. Let me know if I can be of any help...

Definitely call and inquire, but I'm guessing the answer is no. I asked my shop about it and they said it is incompatible with the ECU on the engine. If the company says differently it would be great news
