Vacu-flush toilet pump running too often

Since purchasing this '06 34 PC this Spring the toilet pump comes on every 3-4 minutes when it's turned on. The toilet flushes normally and I have checked for leaks and can't find any. Have also run Dawn detergent through the system a couple of times this season. Doesn't seem to change anything. The boat does have a macerator which has been deactivated and its seacock appears to be fully closed. Any suggestions?

might be time to swap out the duckbill valves. when they start to go you can lose vacuum pretty quickly. not a hard job, and relatively quick, but i would suggest flushing lots of fresh water before you start. ;)

Thanks. This problem existed at purchase and a mechanic cleaned out the waste accumulator tank and replaced the "joker" valves. Are those the same as duckbill valves or should I look to replace them also?

Is the water staying in the toilet or going away?
If it goes away may be the ball seal and the ball also
easy to replace.

Duct bill valves are in line with the vacuum pump. Two valves before, and two after the pump. All 4 must be replaced. Macerator does not come into the picture here. If the bowl holds water, its either the duct bill valves or the vacuum switch. There also could be a vacuum leak in one of the fittings.

Would the seal in the bottom of the bowl cause that if it were leaking? When you flush it keep your foot on the pedal and take a paper towel and wipe just inside the rim to see if some debris (corn, peanuts, paper, bubble gum) has accumulated to block the seal. If it is just slightly open it lets the water slowly leak and the thing keeps coming on. If that's the duck bill, then disregard this message and do what the veterans say.
Clueless ???

I just had a similar problem when I got my new 34. It turned out to be a loose fitting that I just needed to tighten. It was to the right of the engine. I hand tightened it and the constant "pumping" sound went away. it has not been back since...... not sure if it is same issue but I thought I would share.

I have J series vacum generator model VG4. There are 2 duck bill valves just before the pump and 2 iin the pump assembly.

After replacing my duckbills on my 40pc, I noticed my vacuum pump was running way too much. Went back through all the plumbing I took apart to get to the duckbills and put Teflon tape on the threads. Cured that!!
