VDO trim gauge light change

Hello,

I thought this would be a quick easy fix. I have a 252 and the trim gauge light is out. I went to pull the gauge to change the bulb but it looks like a seal unit. Has anyone change the bulb in these gauges.

The part on the gauge is 1-275-810-136A Yazaki, VDO

Thanks

can you post a photo of the back of the gauge? i'm pretty sure there is a bulb that can be changed but a photo would help.

I don't see the year of your boat. That said, on my 07 31 PC the bulb comes out by removing the screws holding the multiple-installed gauges and turning the bulb (located on the back of the gauge) 1/4 of a turn.

I replaced the factory-installed bulbs (covered by what looked like little red condoms) with red LED's and man does the dash "pop" at night.....

It is a 1996 252SS formula.

I would have to take apart the console again to take a pic. I do understand that there are some gauges that you would twist the holder to take out the bulb. I called VDO and they are telling me that it is a LED and it is a sealed unit.

I kind of find that hard to believe.

Here is a similar gauge on ebay but not sure if it will work. And of coarse this one you can remove the bulb

Call North Hollywood Speedometer at 818-761-5136 or email them at nhspeedometer.com and they can repair it.They rebuilt some of my vdo gauges that you cannot get for a very reasonable price and great service.

Reviving this old thread... I a had few of the instrument lights not lighting up. Removing and replacing what appear to be "T-5" sockets fixed one. Guessing was just bad contacts. But the Oil Pressure one seems to be a bad bulb or socket.

What is everyone doing to replace these? I looked to order one and I am unsure of which one would be correct as none I have seen seem to have the same type of internal element config. And many of them pop-up labeled as "landscape" bulbs. Are LED Socket and Light replacement kits plug & play? Any recommendations? Thinking the proverbial "while I am there", and might as well replace all the sockets & lights. But don't want to turn a 5 minute single bulb fix into a snowballing project....

Thanks in advance, Pablo

Thank you! With the specs ended up ordering these from E-Corp. Fingers crossed they'll last more than a few outings... If anyone needs a few of these, let me know and I'll send some to you. Hopefully I will not need all 20 of them any time soon. EDIT: Somehow I snatched the wrong picture below. Actual ordered are 12V...
