Has anyone used Vessel Vanguard? Is it worth the cost? I am looking for a better way to managed the maintenance of my Formula. Between me and the marina we have missed a few items that I this a software like Vessel Vangaurd word help with. The negative is that it is expensive for covering a 2002 boat.

OK. So I pulled the trigger on the VesselVanguard service. I will let everyone know if it is worth the costs. Still interested in others thoughts.

I had it on two boats...I never got much out of it as the auto alerts were not accurate. however, its like most technology. Garbage In Garbage Out. I never spent any time updating my info therefore I would get alerts for services that were not even close to the hours I had on my boat. So stay on top of it and I think you will find it useful

I have it (free) with my Formula...I would not pay for VV.

Some good things about it, but overall, it's my fisher price software at best.

Tons of room for improvement.

I've actually created an Excel sheet with some VBA extras to log maintenance, fuel data, trips, etc. It's far more useful (to me) than VV.

well I am certainly been unimpressed with the software. It really has not netted the benefits vs the cost.

Agreed, unfortunately.

It's a great idea, but in its current iteration, the software is a dud.

My spreadsheets with macros are much more useful to me.

Would you mind sharing your excel file? What does VBA stand for?

Unfortunately, I can't.

VBA = Visual Basic...it's a scripting language that is used to move data around Excel cells, for a very basic description.

Given my spreadsheet requires certificates for some of the automations, it wouldn't work if I just posted it here.

Bottom line though, it has three tabs: Trip & Fuel Log, Hull Maintenance, and Engine/Gen Maintenance.

I complete the trip log after each one and report the distance traveled, fuel burned, who was on board, etc.

Hull Maintenance = fixes to the boat, waxing, battery replacements, etc.

Engine/Gen is maintenance for those, although I've created some formatting in cells to turn red based on dates and/or engine hours to alert when something is due/upcoming.

Sounds like you should market it, I'd buy it [emoji848]

Thanks for the explanation. I made up a log sheet for trips and have a binder of maintenance/service/repairs but it’s pen & paper. Maybe I’ll add creating a digital log to my winter to-do list. It’s the only list I enjoy adding chores to.

It is a "fun" winter project for a weekend.
