Westerbeke Deisel Starter

My Westerbeke Genny won't start this year. Everything checks out OK as far as tight connections, battery charge, even swapped out the solenoid. Just clicking when attempting to fire it up.
Obviously indications are pointing to the starter unless anyone has another suggestion. Unfortunately on the 2005 40 PC the starter is buried on the inner side of the shoehorned in Genny.
I think I'll need to remove the unit just to get at the far side.

Does anyone have insight?

Thanks,
Brian

Try jumping from another battery before doing much else. I had a similar problem where the battery voltage checked out fine under no load but the second I hit the starter all I got was clicking. I thought it was the solenoid or starter until I checked the voltage while cranking. Voltage dropped off immediately once I started cranking. I tried jumping from one of my other batteries to prove what the problem was. The genny battery was damaged internally and when I pulled it out found the back side was bulging badly.

I would say checking the battery is probably your best bet. I pull my batteries every year and had the same issue when I put them back in this year. The gauge on the panel said I had full voltage but it wouldn't turn over. Come to find out I only had the battery hand tight.

Guys how do I get access to the back of the generator, I'm trying to change coolant and cannot find the block drain plug...I just posted the question about going through the wall in the cabin to get to it
