What a season.........

After numerous issues this summer I finally got her in. I went through the Mercury Marine paint peeling issue in the high-pressure fuel pumps this summer. My marina worked with Mercury and I was pleasantly surprised that they replaced both high-pressure fuel pumps and paid for the the fuel injectors to be sent out to Texas to be professionally cleaned. Unfortunately, lost a lot of time being out on the water. It killed me to sit on the boat and watch everyone else going out knowing I couldn't even start the engines to hear them purr... Trying to get a few last runs in before winter storage..... bummer

One good looking boat Bigguns59, nothing worst then sitting on the beach saying to the people next to you ya I have boat like that, you know what they’re thinking sure you do, or watching other boaters having a good time on there (working) boat, hope you enjoy the rest of the boating session

I had a similar start to my season as well.
Put the boat in and all of a sudden my port motor starts running warmer than last season. I go through everything and it ultimately end up being the dreaded transom plate corrosion that pinches the raw water tube. I end up having to haul the boat out of the water and put thru hulls in. Then after I put the boat back in the water, I see smoke coming off the back side of the starboard motor when running on plane. The smell seemed a bit like oil but also like burning rubber. I was initially convinced that the coupler was getting ready to let go and said screw it, I'll use the boat till that breaks and pull the motor in the off season. After taking it for a good long ride without issue, I got back to our mooring and decided to stick my phone over the back of the motor and take some pictures. What did I find? A bunch of grease had had been slung off of the outdrive shaft onto the exhaust pipes - hence the smoke after the boat was running on plane for a minute plus. I had rebuilt the outdrives the previous offseason and had obviously put too much grease on the shaft.
In all these issues cost me a little more than a month of our already short season that we have here in the northeast. The good news was that I don't need to pull the motor :)
At this point the boats hauled and put away for the season, looking forward to spring!!
