Why do I have 3 float switches?

Looking at the bilge pump setup it looks like 3 float switches and the actual pump. Any idea why 3?

I can't tell the elevations of the two outside level switches but I assume the highest is the high water alarm. Maybe one level switch is stage 1 warning and the other is stage two "high" water alarm. Do they have the manual knobs on them to test. You need to turn the knob and hold for 5-10 seconds for the high water to annunciate. Believe me you will know it. The sound will wake you out of a deep sleep!

ok cool I'll test them tomorrow thanks.

My boat had 3, 2 bilge pumps 1 high water alarm.
I only see one bilge pump in the picture is there another one somewhere else?

I tested all 3, the lowest one is the auto bilge, the one on the right is the alarm, the one on the left does nothing

Good to hear the high water alarm and bilge pump floats work. I forgot to ask, what is that black object fastened to the side with he cable coming out?

The one that you say does nothing, may be the forward bilge pump. If the water gets that high, it turns the forward pump on.

Check that.
