Will the 260 BR work for Water Sports??

Guys I am about to purchase a 2000 260 BR with the 7.4 GI Volvo. Will this have enough power to pull tubers or wake board with 3-4 adults and a crowd of small kids on board? I haven't sea trailed it yet, but does it handle like a cruiser, or more like a smaller boat? I've owned many boats just not one set up quite like this boat. No trim tabs on this one so I figure that will need to be the first upgrade. Only have 360 hours on it.

Thanks

I would say it should....I had a similar size boat and had no problems (it was not a formula though)

So outside of the tab issue, my gut says heck yea!

I'll echo that also. My previous boat was not a Formula but was a 24' with a 5.7L small block and an Alpha drive. Never had a problem pulling tubers or skiers, you should be OK with a bigger motor and duo-prop drive.

It should be fine. I have not pulled anyone with the 260 I just purchased (2007 with a 496MAG), but it has plenty of power with 6 people on board and a full tank. I have no doubt the 7.4 will be able to get skiers up.

I would compare the handling more towards a sport boat than a cruiser (although it is no sport boat). While heavy, it does not feel like a dog by any means.

If you are going the trim tab route I would highly recommend Lecrotab. I installed on my last boat and found then to be cheaper, more responsive, and less complicated than the equivalent bennett system. They were rock solid through the 4 seasons I owned the boat with them on.

I wanted to follow up on this now that I've had the boat a few weeks for anyone else who may have this question in the future. The performance of this hull is amazing!! While my boat doesn't have the most powerful set up offered it still performs great! The boat has zero problems popping up a wake boarder or dragging a tube and the hull transitions from planing to non planing mode seamlessly. Now I see why people love their Formula boats! I'm very impressed!
