Windlass Battery

Ok does anyone know what Group battery the windlass battery that is stored under our mattress? I can get a good deal on some batteries but mine is currently wrapped.

The Thruste Battery in my 2007 31 PC is a 31M. I replaced it along with my other 4 Batteries with Sears DieHard Platinum AGM's. To date, not problems whatsoever.....

FYI, the House / Engine Batteries are also 31M's. I replaced the Factory Installed Generator Batttery with a Sears DieHard Platinum AGM as well - Size = 34M AGM. It was Higher in Cranking Amps (880 CCA) but I wanted to stay with the same brand Battery.

Quick question, I thought the windless was connected to my house batteries on my 370ss. I'm wondering if I'm right??

I replaced my engine (2) and house (1) batteries last year with the Sears Die-Hard AGM - fantastic batteries... but not cheap. If you are interested in these, wait until they go on sale - I got 10% off last year and I'm sure Sears will have something similar this spring.

Also of note - my replacement batteries did not fit nicely in the original housing... but I got it to work.

Haven't touched my windlass/thruster battery yet but should probably consider swapping that out this year.

Sorry can't speak for 370ss. I did in fact get 10% off of the sears batteries that's why I was asking about windlass. Didn't want to miss out on sale.

Just checked and they are indeed on sale.

So my thruster/windlass battery is the same size (31M) as my engine and house batteries? Does the Sears 31M AGM fit right in the exact location as the current factory installed thruster/windlass battery? As I mentioned previously my new Sears 31M AGM installed last spring in my engine room did not fit exactly.

Looks like I may be buying a new battery this weekend.

OK... so planning to pick up the 31M Sears for my thruster/windlass replacement.

Question though... I realize it will fit, but this is a big powerful battery. do I really need something this powerful for my thruster/windlass? Would the Group 34 work (smaller and cheaper) just as good for this application? Or should I just stick with replacing like for like?

Stick with it....the windlass takes a TON of juice...last thing you want is having trouble retrieving the anchor.

NO, THE GROUP 31 IS WHAT BELONGS THERE. YOU MADE A MISTAKE, YOU PROBABLY MEANT TO SAY GROUP 24.

You are absoluetly correct. The 34 is smaller in size and Cranking Amps. I purchased that for my Generator but did, in fact, purchase/install the larger 31 for the Windlass / Thruster up forward.....

Well, I gave a quick look under the bed last night and here's what I saw...

Didn't really dig around too much to find the battery since I wasn't going to install it last night but... is this the battery? If so, does this mean I have another battery somewhere for my bow thruster?

I purchased a Group 31 from Sears and it won't fit here so really hoping this is something else and my windless/thruster battery is somewhere else.

that ain't a battery it's a control module. trace down the big supply cable to find the battery, and i know that is probably way easier said than done. maybe try disconnecting each battery until the windlas won't work??

OK... that's a good start. Was really hoping it didn't have that small of a battery. :)

Based on feedback from this site I assumed the battery was under the bed somewhere, but I can't disconnect a battery to test because I can't find it yet. The "easy to open" compartments have been checked under the bed. If my battery is under the bed somewhere I'll have to do some searching because it wasn't easily found last night.

Unless someone here knows specifically where the windlass/thruster batter is located, I'll search more this weekend.

when you say "easily accessible" do you mean you removed some of the screws/panels that i can see in the photos? if not, it might be worth a look. i'm sure the battery isn't going to be in a place where it would be too difficult to access.
