Ok. If boat, 31 PC is not hooked up to shore power and battery charger, after a couple of days the charging? Relay to windlass starts ?tapping?. As soon as charger is turned on it stops
LOOKS LIKE WINDLASS IS WIRED DIRECT? Any thoughts would be appreciated

also. Build up of calcium in generator thru hull creating blockage, Causes? Solution?

The windless has 2 switches to control it. One turns power ON, the other raises and lowers it. Is the main power switch being left ON?

As for the build up, sounds like your in salt water, and needs to be cleaned

I would guess that low voltage is making the relay fall in and out.
As far as your thru hull getting corroded, check the bonding wire (green wire attached inside) for broken, loose or corrosion. If this wire is compromised, it will corrode.

Our 41PC has a relay in the engine room that supplies power to the windlass. It was bad when we bought the boat and I found out why the PO didn’t replace it, it is out of reach. So you turn the power switch on and this relay applies power to the cables going to the bow. Then the up/down switch controls the windlass. If the windlass is making noises randomly then you probably have the power switch on and the relay is powered all the time. Check the wiring diagrams for your boat to see if you have the same setup. If you don’t have the diagrams Formula can send them to you.

Mechanic says it looks like a direct line without circuit breaker and or switch. Will need further investigation
as far as calcium. All groups are good

Formula wouldn't install a windless without a breaker
This is mine which is in the motor room

Mine has both a breaker and a relay to power it. Even if the switch is off the relay could be stuck on. Get a meter and see if you have power on both sides of the relay, if you have a relay. What does the schematics show?
