Zincs on Shafts

I am getting familiar with my new to me 40PC. I did notice there is a strap on my shafts in the bilge, which lead me to believe they are some type of electrolysis management. I do not have zincs on the shafts below the water line. My experience tells me I should have them. I bought the zincs, but I wanted to make sure this is a good idea.

I have zincs on my shafts which I had put on. When they start to wear I put a second set on. When the older ones fall off the new ones are there. Formula does not put any on.

Thanks for the reply.
There has to be a reason they don't??? Performance maybe???
I would hate to put them on when I don't need them. One less thing to worry about...

I am more concerned with corrosion then a performance lose which would not be noticeable. I see you boat in Miami and are in salt water. You might consider putting them on. Ask around in your marina see if others are using them.

I agree...

What would be a good marina to stay in in Miami if I wanted to stay a few days?

You have many.

Depends on what you will be doing while you are here. Are you going to be boating? Partying? Fishing?

I think the strap in the engine compartment is a grounding device. I don't think the 40 PC comes with Zinc's from the factory but I put them on anyway and change them every year. It's cheap insurance.

i assumed the straps were part of the bonding system, the straps lay against the shafts on one end and are connected to a green bonding wire on the other end. maybe this is supposed to take the place of the shaft zincs?? i also don't see a problem with adding the zincs though and i can't see that adding them would affect the performance either.
