41pc windlass

Hi. I have a new to me 2001 41pc. The windlass worked on sea trial but is now not working. I can here the solenoid click. I?m thinking it has a bad solenoid but I?m unsure of where it?s located. Can anyone lead me in the direction of finding it?
Thanks
Ralph

On my 1998 41 PC, there are 2 rocker switches on the dash. One is (unmarked on mine) and provides the power for the windlass. When I first got the boat I thought there was a problem, but I just didn't turn on the power.

The other switch is the rocker that brings the anchor up/down.

Not sure about solenoid location.

I have 2 rocker switches on my 2002 41 PC. However, I did have to have the windlass "rebuilt" last summer. It just stopped working and after pushing every circuit breaker and switch to no avail, I had it rebuilt and it is like new.

Thanks for the reply?s. After talking with formula tech support I found the solenoid under the forward bed. New part is on order.

Can you tell me exactly where, under forward need it is located. I don't see anything in that compartment accept carpet

I just had the same thing happening (clicking but no movement of the windlass).

I traced mine to a bad main power switch on the dash. Kept toggling it back and forth until it worked. New switch is on order...

I think my relay was going bad, it's down on the aft area of the prt engine/muffler. I used to switch it on and off a dozen times and it would start working , new relay seemed to fix it.

My windlass wasn’t working. I started in the bow but had no voltage there. Looking at the wiring diagram I saw a solenoid in the stern port side. We would activate the power switch on the dash and could hear it click but still now power out of the solenoid. It is a continuous duty solenoid. It is a reat PITA to get to unless you have 6’ arms. I contacted Formula and they gave me the part number and price from them. They also gave me a source that has them that was a lot cheaper so I got it from that source. Replaced the solenoid and the windlass worked. So I would start in the bow and with the dash power switch on check and see if you have voltage on the main power cables from the stern coming into the box under the forward berth. If you do then the stern solenoid is working, if you don't then the stern solenoid is where I would start.
