FORMULA OWNER?S RAFT-UP
September 18/19, 2010
Still Pond Creek (Inside)
(N 39 19.940 / W 76 07.550)
Dear Formula Owner:
There will be an informal, owner-organized two-day Formula Owners Raft-Up/Rendezvous over the weekend of September 18/19, 2010 in Still Pond Creek. This is intended to be a casual get-together with all activities planned by consensus of those attending. The Formula factory will donate some Formula Gear giveaways and door prizes. To ensure that they send enough items, they will need to know how many attendees we expect no later than Monday, September 6.

The idea is to raft up around the perimeter of the huge 2- to 4-foot deep sand flats and use it as a floating/wading/gathering area. Still Pond Creek offers one of the best and cleanest hard-packed sand bottoms on the Bay with excellent holding power. For those with SunSports or tenders, there is tons of room for skiing and tubing a little further into the creek from the raftup. We plan to be there early Saturday morning (maybe even Friday night), and will try to preserve an area for our group. It's a public spot, so there's only so much that we can do in that respect.

It is only shallow in the center area of Still Pond Creek where the sandbar/flat is marked on the drawing below. The entry is between 6 and 8 feet deep at low tide, well-marked with new daymarkers and "6 mph / No Wake" markers. We will be happy to provide specific and detailed navigation instructions for anyone who is nervous. Low tide will be at about 1:00 PM on the 18th and noon on the 19th. Tidal change for those days is predicted to be about one foot.

You may attend for the entire duration, both days, one day, or even just a brief visit. An overnight stay in Still Pond Creek is optional, depending on your own boat?s capabilities and your interest. If there is enough interest, we could consider making arrangements at a nearby marina like Skipjack Cove or Mears Great Oak to organize some shore-based activities as well.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Ok i think i might be able to make this event. 2 questions.

1 will this be a kid friendly event during day light hours? Please be honest, i can always get a sitter for the weekend, but my kids love to raft up ;D
2 dont have chart access at the moment, is this north or south of great oaks fairlee creek?

PS. Still need to check with the boss.

1: I can't vouch for the behavior of everyone, but the intention is to make it welcome to all. I know that there are younger kids coming on other boats, and Still Pond has a reputation for being a responsible hangout.
2: Still Pond Creek is 5.5 miles NE of Fairlee Creek. If you're westbound (from NJ), it's the first creek on the southern shore after the Sassafras River. The cove itself is known as Still Pond; the Creek entrance is not readily visible until you get prettly close in, but there are two sets of big daymarks to guide you.

We are planning on being there and will have at least our 4yo with us. Maybe not the little one.

C_Spray,
can you post the pic of the creek you mention in your original post? i have a 40PC, and am curious as to where i might be able to go/not go. i'll need at least 3' of draw..

thanks,
todd

If anyone is closer to deciding for sure whether or not they will be coming, please post it. I am getting ready to issue an update. Right now it looks like 11 boats/33 people for Saturday, with 4 boats/10 people staying overnight and Sunday.

September 7 is the cutoff date to make sure that you get goodies from Formula. Anyone can come after that, but I can't gaurantee any giveaways...

man this sounds like fun! i can't make it though. too far from southeast tennessee. maybe Capt Clause will send me some Formula gear for x-mas...............

Well as of today we are not making it. I will be in Vegas for work til Saturday morning. Will take me 6 to 7 hours to get there stopping for fuel once. Not worth it for one night...

I am about 90% so count me in. 34PC on the hook Hope to stay Sat night weather permitting.
Name not on yet but "Formula for Sanity"
