June 22-23-24 Golden Nugget Atlantic City

Well since my boating crew and I were part of the boats that were stuck in ongoing severe thunderstorms from noon til now... I can post some of Steve's pics he shared with me.

Thanks Tom! There's a few not in the pics, Joes 48'. Comstocks new 45' another 34 and 40 that I missed due to heavy rain, and a few other boats that joined the fun! The Band is play'n on the deck. Some enjoyed dinner at the Chart house that overlooks the marina. Winds blow'n a little but no rain...so far!

Good news, the boats who did not make it due to weather will not be charged for tonight's slip! See me tomorrow.

Ps. Starting to rain dammmmm! ;D

Beautiful morning in AC after a fun night on the docks! This weekend flew by. So when are we doing this again?

Yes in deed! Thanks to everyone who came out to join us! 18 boats in total and a few Formulas that showed up not knowing about the event. Pretty sure we all had a great time. Food on the dock was awesome! ;D. I heard a few lost some gas money and a few won some gas money at the casino ;). The band was awesome on the deck.

Special thanks to Formula for the goodies supplied! Also thanks to John from Comstock! Nothing like a vist to a brand new 2012 45 yacht with a cooler full of cold beverages! And thanks to the Nugget marina staff!

I will post up some photos/video of the event as soon as I can.

Safe travels home!

Steve

It was great meeting/visiting with the few NJ Formula owners that I did get to meet. You folks had a great turn-out! I saw a few of you headed back north on Sunday while I was waiting for my friends to get towed off of a sandbar.

Chuck that was me with the two fastechs passing you guys. Everyone alright?
In the end, we were all OK. I was following a "crumb trail" back, and got about 100' off to the left, where the chart showed 11 feet of water. It was 11 inches. We hit at 65 mph, but I had seen it coming and was hard on the "up" trim button. We still stopped pretty quickly, but there was no harm done; the boat pretty much floated off once I trimmed the drive all the way up, hopped in and pushed us off. Our friends in the OuterLimits saw us hit, swerved to the right, and wound up high and dry in 2 inches of water. They stopped so smoothly that one of the girls in the back asked "How come we're stopped?" Fortunately, the tide was really coming in, and BoatUS had them off in about an hour. Apparently, that sandbar is a notorious uncharted hazard. The SeaTow boat was sitting there when we hit!!

Having learned not to trust the charts, I never deviated from the crumb trail by more that 10 feet for the rest of the trip and arrived back in Toms River with only slightly frayed nerves!

Castines - Sorry I missed you. Maybe next time!!!

All you guys are welcome to visit us in the Chesapeake any time.

Yeah that inland waterway is a mess. Sea Tow and Tow Boat always hang out just around the corner from the shoaled areas.. Tell tale sign that skinny waters near by. Glad everyone is ok.

Like they say, its not if, but when ;D 42mph in the photo below. You can sea Harrahs Tower to the right of the boat... Sea Tow propwashed the mud out from under in about 30 min. The bad part was the Green Heads..

Same exact thing happened to me when I took the boat to a friends "rental" house in Stone Harbor (approx 30 minutes south of Atlantic City) except I was at the rental house floating dock. When I arrived/docked I had 9'-6" of water underneath me. Went to dinner and when we came back (at dead-low tide) the boat was on the bottom i.e., 6" of water. What I didn't realize what that it was a full moon which instead of a 6'-6" tidal difference there was a 9'-0". The only saving grace was that A. No cement block were underneath me and just as important, since my drives were down, the drives were in what must have been the edge of the channel i.e., in approx 3' of water.

I stayed in the water for 3 hours cleaning the bottom, drives and anything I could to keep my mind off of hearing crunching fiberglass. Thankfully it never happened. Ah boating, there is nothing like it.
