Looking to purchase 2012 or newer 370 or 400SS!

You made a great choice. Sorry I did not catch this thread earlier but the 370 is a great boat. I owned a '14 with 8.2s. I jumped into a 400 last summer and could not believe the difference in the boats. Ride, running attitude, canvas, etc all at a different level. Of course I am comparing diesels to a gas boat and that is a big difference as well. The 400 with Volvos is significantly quieter at the helm. 2500 rpms to cruise vs 3800 in the gas 370.

enjoy...you will have a blast! Post some pics!

and as for salt...I have owned both and boated on both salt and fresh water. It is sometimes more important to understand where the boat lived. For example a New England boat is only in the salt for a few months where a FL boat may not ever come out of the salt.

If anything false apart in your survey let me know. I hear there is a 40 SSC in the works I might need to try out!

I have a survey set up for October 11. Wife and I are headed to NY on 10-20 to view and sea
trial. If all goes well the deal will be done. Does anyone have advice on bow cushions for a 2015 400ss? TIA!

Quote for Bow cushions on a 200 41PC was $1100 for both from local canvas guy that does a quite a business in my club.

Enjoy your new boat! I love those blue motors. I took a 15 year old fresh water boat and dropped it in salt water this year. It was super clean. I would never think about going the other way, salt to fresh. You made a great choice.

We're going to seatrial the boat tomorrow morning. Pretty psyched as it's supposed to be 73 and sunny. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon the wife and I will be proud owners of a 400ss:cool:.

I noticed your question about bow cushions - pick up some floats at your local pool supply store. The best ones are the bean bag style (expensive @ $150) but far more versatile as you can lay comfortably on the bow or tie 'em off to the boat at anchor. And way more comfortable than sun pads.

Having had plenty of bow cushions boats I see a couple of issues installing them on a 400 deck:
You would either have to cover your non skid center walk way or install over the glass area
I am not sure you have enough room between deck hatches
A 400 is a 50 mph boat! Installed cushions will either need to be removed and stored for high speed runs or it will beat the crap out of your deck glass! And if you are storing them during runs, then I go back to my original suggestion to get some high end floats.

I like this idea, do you have a link to the type you're talking about?

Boat is supposed to be here in Michigan mid April. Thanks for the advice on the bow pads as I just purchased some high end floats at a marine shop near my house. This 400ss is equipped with pretty much everything but an aft TV and any type of satellite for TV. Wife and I went to the Detroit Boat Show on Saturday and it looks like i'm spending about $6k for new electronics. Also talked to the owner of our new marina for about an hour and found a company we like to put on the new name as there's never been any stickers on the back. Pumped!!!!!!

Just FYI. A great repair/warranty shop Lake St Clair is Bob Parcell at Bayview Yacht Crafters. He really helped me with my 400SS. I could get parts from him faster than I could get them from local dealers. He also has a great relationship with Formula. The shop in on the Clinton river at the north end of the lake.

Thanks. I just found this out at the boat show as I talked to Mike from Lakeside and he told me to go to Bayview for any problems or warranty work as he doesn't deal with the Blue Motors. Works great for us as we will have it at Belle Maer.

To all who are shopping for a D-6 powered boat. Great, Great power package. I love our economy and quiet running. I must tell you there is a factory recommended total cooler service at 1000 hrs. If the boat has sat in salt and not been hauled 1000 hours may be pushing the limits. It can be a $12K in the water service call. You must consider this when shopping.

Here she is wrapped for delivery on 4-12. Decided to go with the KVH Sat TV. Getting pumped!!!!

I just found out this week that Bob Parcell is the one that will be commissioning the boa, probably 4-21. BYC will be my service and warranty center as they handle the 520's, not Lakeside.

Great to hear there is another 400ss on lake st clair. I have an 04 with 525s it will be behind my house that backs up to conger bay(the road to belle maer)

thumbnail_IMG_20171021_134904571_HDR.jpgThis was taken when we sea trialed it in November. Will post more when it gets to Michigan and we get it detailed, KVH installed and name on it. Not launching until 4-27 because of the crap weather.
