Bringing a 2002 37PC back to life

Well I just purchased a solid 2002 37PC with 300 hours but in need of some TLC. I figured I would share the process as I go along for any suggestions or advice.. Mechanically I have replaced the manifolds, elbows, pulleys, spark plugs, risers, alternators, and water pumps. I figure I would start off right..

On the stern I have replaced the shore power and phone connections with new stainless steel versions. The old ones were yellowed and stripped. On the cockpit I have replaced the old rockers with those from a new 2013 37PC.

Before the spring I plan on upgrading the steering wheel to a more modern design (If I can ever get the old one off..)

I will also be upgrading the speakers from the stock junk to DC Gold's. Has anyone else used these?
The cup holders will be switched from plastic to stainless steel and the Props are all being redone to ensure I start off solid.

Looks like a lot of bling is going into the restore projects, looks nice.

Never used or heard of DC Gold stuff, hope they a designed to handle the marine environment.

I was looking at JL Audio and I was pushed hard on these. Supposedly they sound fantastic. I hooked them up to my home theater and they were very crisp but it is hard to judge as they were not in a enclosure. Summer will tell. :)

Hope they work out ad with a 3 year warranty they should, but look over the warranty to see what is covered. I've put some money in my stereo but noticed later I could have spent less and been just as happy. Most the time we are tied up with friends and leave the music off because were talking and having fun, music would interfere most time or be so low we couldn't hear it very well. If you crank it up you either cannot talk or your bothering other folks on the water. Also high quality stereo system sounds great in rooms where you can hear all the highs and lows, but out on the water the acoustics just don't work as well.

Either way have a good one

he probably only changed the actuators, not the entire switch assemblies. just pop off the old ones and snap on the new ones.

I just replaced the switch covers. I contacted Formula and they sent me the ones from a 2013 so the labeling matched. Was an easy upgrade.

JL Audio 7.7's are hard to beat, just sayin'..... ;)

That was what I was originally going for but the the DC Golds fit in the existing speaker spots easier. This time next year I will be raving about these or investing in JL.

I'd be interested in upgrading my 07 31 PC toggle switch covers as well.

Who did you contact at Formula and what is his/her telephone number?

He is a huge help. They run around $6.50 a piece.

They are easy to install. Just pop the clips on the back of the old ones.

i contacted them a year or so ago, they didn't have all the labels i needed at that time. maybe they have a better assortment now.

We had a small break in the winter weather here in Long Island. I took the opportunity to install the new steering wheel. Once I broke the chemical bond created between the aluminum and metal it was smooth as silk. Now I would love if I could find a formula logo that would cover the new cap.

Looks good. Will be interesting to watch your changes. Thanks for posting.

I got a 2004 37 last summer. Mechanically sound. Replaced speakers in the arch with kenwoods. Put a stainless steel facing on the outside fridge. Now pulling out the old tv, converting the space to a cabinet and hanging a flat screen on it.

So you just replaced the front of the fridge with stainless? Love to see a photo. I am thinking of doing the same to my ice maker.

Another nice day here on Long Island so a few more updates.

Nice project ! one question i have always had though. Why go with water proof speakers on the interior. I always thought that if those were ever submerged that speakers would be the last thing i would be worried about. Wish i had a 37
