Well since Formula doesn't offer a trailerable Cruiser and because of the sentimental value of my 26pc, I decided to re-do the whole boat during Feb-April of this year and I conned my pops into helping. The downstairs was stripped down, all new ultra-leather was fabbed to the old dinette area by the upholsterer I used to re-cover the cockpit vinyl, all the carpet was trashed and we laid brand new sculptured carpet and like the new models, we installed hard wood flooring, and all led lighting. While everything was apart we installed an aircontioning/heating unit under the front right v-berth and ran ducting to the galley and even aft cabin that also runs off the house battery bank we put in with an inverter. I pulled the engine and had it gone thru by a local performance marine engine builder that talked me out of a 496ho and bumped my 454 a bit from 330hp to 433hp/518tq. I installed a brand new transom assembly and brand new sweptback bravo 3. Boat runs real well today was the first day we actually got to relax on it since it was put together. It was pretty rewarding to kick back relax put the new grill to use and to crack open a few cold ones enjoying the hard work that was involved. There's a bug or two that still needs to be smoothed out but considering there's not much oem and the boat has been on the water for over 28 years it's all good! Many years of fun to come!

The new power painted with the same imron we used to re-spray the sides of the boat.

Dberkley, here is the pic of the AC routing.... the green you see isnt a salt water leak my blower vents leak rain water into the engine compartment sometimes.

Dyno from motor build. This wasnt the last pull which got me my 433/518 but it shows the nice power curve.

Looks Awesome Tom! what color/make is that wood floor! the dark and light grain really pops in the photos.. must be great in real life!

Re: It Dont Come Easy [2012] Formula 26PC

Thanks guys.

Steve its called Mineral Wood by Bruce which is Armstrong. The light colors match the cabinets and the dove grey ultraleather.

HELL OF A JOB!!!!
How interesting that you posted this so soon after my wife and I were discussing newer boats this weekend and after seeing the prices of them I was able to restart my heart then we talked about stripping her down (the boat, of-course) and redoing our 26PC. You have given me some great ideas and your new boat is wonderful! Great Job. Thank you for the pics. Id love to see the spec sheet or all the upgrades that you done but that's asking to much but Thx and ENJOY!

Really nice work. School me on how you got the wood floor to fit/work under the head door, and did you use a leveler compound before the install? My raw floor is super uneven.

Thanks, TLR

- 454 was bored to 468 with cam, roller rockers, intake mani, new carb, pistons, rods, etc

- Bravo 2 was ditched in favor of a new Bravo 3 Sweptback model

- New transom assembly installed with all new trim pistons, hoses etc.

I'm sure there are a lot more less significant mods/upgrades i've done that I left out. Nothing was easy, shoot the first brand new drive I installed was defective and had to be given another brand new one. Hence the name of the boat... def moto of my life.. It Dont Come Easy

Thanks, TLR

Pain in the @$$ for sure. Pops actually laid down resin and fiberglass over the uneven surface and leveled it out a bit and then we used a click and lock flooring glue that made it level.

BTW have you tested those trim tab thingamajiggers?

"BTW have you tested those trim tab thingamajiggers?"

I have 1 hr on the boat so far this season, only in the water 1 week. It sure turns sharper/harder. I need some more run time to get a feel for them and their angles in comparision to the drive angle too.

For the $30 they cost and my time taking off the tabs & mounting the drop fins on the tabs I am pleased so far.

Looks great. I still have a ways to go on mine before I'm happy. Definitely going to overhaul the interior and you made my mind up on ditching the carpet.
