Hello everyone - Believe it or not this is Spice. I had some issues with my account at this site and the webmaster and I agreed to just change my name. Couldn't logon for some reason so just created a new user ID which matches by boat's name.
Anyway, I completed my LED upgrade this past weekend and had to improvise a little but I believe it turned out better than had I not improvised. As mentioned above I ordered the LED lights from Lumitec along with the retro-fit bracket. As it turned out the retro-fit bracket was the correct size for the mounting hole, however it the screw holes for the original fixture would have shown.
So, having to take a close look at my situation I decided to see if the lights fit within the existing housing... and believe it or not, they did! I simply removed the existing bulb, fed the wires through a couple existing small holes, made my connections (this involved cutting and splicing to the existing wires), and put double sided tape on the back of the LED and placed it in the existing fixture and closed it up with the existing cover with lense. It worked out much better than using the retro-fit bracket! See pics below. I now have white that dims with blue when I want all while using the existing light switch. The only note of caution is that the blue lights are bright - they take some getting used to. The pics don't do it justice and it was very hard to capture without a flash for some reason so posting the pic with the flash photography. I've posted pics during the day so you can see how they look installed and one at night with blue light on.
