Time to set up the Second Annual Middle Chesapeake Rendezvous! When I worked on this last year, I actually had several folks tell me they had seen similar events, but nobody kept them going…so here we go!
We’re going to keep the location from last year, The Horse Farm, but move the date up by a month to August 24th to try and avoid the crazy September weather. Luckily I had boat issues and we didn’t do July 20th because it was smoking hot!
Raft-up at the horse farm, which is actually between Holland Point and Purdy Point off of Sillery Bay on the Magothy. We’ll be there by noon and it’ll go as long as you want. Food and beverage is BYO, so make sure to provision for a day out. GPS coordinates are: 39°05'24.4"N 76°26'02.6"W I’m planning for a larger raft-up, but if you’d rather anchor out on your own and swing by to visit, feel free! There’s no official schedule, so we’ll play the day by ear.
Getting/staying there...
For those of you that might want to use a boat ramp, you have 3 options: Ferry Point Marina, Magothy Marina, and Sandy Point State Park. Sandy Point is without a doubt the easiest to access, and most accommodating for the land vehicle/trailer and is about 15 minutes from the anchorage. Ferry Point will try to accommodate if they can, but they have limited parking. This would be best if you're planning to go to The Point for dinner. Magothy Marina is around the corner from Ferry Point as well.
I'm not planning to book overnight stays, so if you'd like to stay the night please do so yourself. Both Ferry Point and Magothy Marina usually have space, but it would be best for you to call and reserve something.
