1st Annual Middle Bay Rendezvous!!

i'm waiting for an update from the marina, and then i'll post a larger update, but in the meantime, no real schedule. feel free to go when your tummy grumbles! several of us are staying the night there, so we're just going to head in. they do have some transient spots for the restaurant, and i'll work with Matt at the marina to get us some more for the group, but as of now, i don't have many that have confirmed they want to stay the night, or go to dinner.

is it the Sea Ray that broke? should i leave home the extra TP and and whipped cream for decorating it?

Is the plan to pile into a boat for dinner? There didn't seem to be much dock space?

Not a bad idea but may have to ultimately decide this as next weekend approaches or the day of once we have a better feel for how many are going for dinner. Staying for dinner probably means running home in the dark (which most people don't want to do), maybe we should plan on dinner being a little early? Just a suggestion, we're in for the night at Ferry Point

Yea, I prefer to be able to see crab pots, but don't matter to me.
I'm trying to keep an eye on the weather too. This weekend looks like a wash. Hoping for better next.

Guys, this looks like an event not to be missed, unless you're up here in Connecticut. Wish we could make it, so please do post lots of pics, and have a great time!

Hey there everyone! Less than a week left to go and things are coming together nicely. I wanted to pass on some last minute details and try to answer the most frequently asked questions…

First, if you haven’t posted here, or emailed with me directly about your plans to join us, stay at the marina or have dinner, please reach out when you can so i can plan for giveaways, etc.

Just to summarize details of the event…
Raft-up at the horse farm, which is actually between Holland Point and Purdy Point off of Sillery Bay on the Magothy. We’ll be there by noon and it’ll go as long as you want…some of us are heading to a local marina for dinner though. Food and beverage is BYO, so make sure to provision for a day out. GPS coordinates are: 39°05'24.4"N 76°26'02.6"W I’m planning for a larger raft-up, but if you’d rather anchor out on your own and swing by to visit, feel free! There’s no official schedule, so we’ll play the day by ear.

Marina if you’re interested:

Restaurant
The Point Crab House

Restaurant docking is somewhat limited, but if you can let me know that you plan to come, I’ll try to get the marina to set aside some dockage for us. We can also try to arrange some ferrying to/from the restaurant if need be.

Now get out there and do your sun dance, or whatever you can to get us sunny and 80 degrees! Oh, anyone have a drone that they want to bring for pictures??

See ya'll there!

btw…we have 17 boats definitely in so far…and another 9 tentative. if you’re on the fence, what ya waiting for??

The Conowingo Dam currently has 9 spill gates open & is operating under spill conditions. The river is flowing at approx 246,000 cubic ft./second. There is a possibility of 13 gates opening today. Marine debris is likely to follow. Continue to use extreme caution.

Hey there everyone. I was holding out hope, but it looks pretty gloomy at this point. Right now, we have wind that will be at least 10mph for 3 days, and day of it will be a solid 15, with gusts to 25. Not to mention storm surge, lots of clouds, and a good chance of rain, and they will probably take until Saturday to figure out what it’s going to do anyways…and there’s already debris in the Bay…

So, I’m very sorry to have to do this, but I think it’s best if we postpone the Rendezvous until September 29[SUP]th[/SUP]. I again have my fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate, and that all of you can still make it! I don’t want to risk it trying to push for this weekend as it’s just not worth it.

Please take care, make whatever preparations you need to, and above all be safe!
Take care,
Todd

I plan to go to my marina Sat and check things out, if it's not too bad I'll be on the water. If it's bad I'll fix up the boat and head home...

Unfortunately with the weather and especially the debris from the dam. I'm not going to be there. But still would like to raft up before end of season.

Avalon, the Rendezvous has been rescheduled for the 29th. Hope the weather cooperates!

Took the boat out Saturday from Back River. Made it near Dock of the bay before saying F_that and heading back. Debris EVERYWHERE. Passed an entire floating TREE.

Yeah, some friends at our marina didn't even make it out of Bodkin Creek before turning around because of debris. Even though the weather was decent I think we made the right call in rescheduling the rendezvous.
