2011 Formula Chesapeake Rendezvous - Sept. 16-18?

While we're all pondering Castines' suggestion of Bimini in a few years....

Is there any interest in a rerun of last year's Still Pond Creek get-together? Now that everyone knows where the channel is (and the sandbar isn't) it should be a piece of cake...

There have already been a few suggestions, including setting up a floating screen and projector to have "Movie Night(s)", as well as an organized (sort of) competition of game of some kind.

As always; it's up to everyone's consensus. There's nothing wrong with simply tying up and floating!

Life begins on the water.

This looks like a poor response so I will start. I would have interest in going. Would like it better if it could be further south in the Chesapeake. Last Formula Rendezvous that we went on was in 2000 and factory and dealer (Total Marine) sponsored. It was in Newport RI. 66 boats turned out. That was their first NE rendezvous and probably the biggest turn out.

Good idea bring this up now with dates, I was going to post Jerseys get together soon also so everyone could schedule their weekends accordingly.

I think with this much time I should be able to convince 3 fastechs to follow me with my 26pc and trailer down early morning, drop in, hang and pull out that night and head back home to the Jersey Shore. As the summer progresses I may find others interested. Whatare some marinas nearby with reliable ramps for larger boats?

IDCE, you should make an overnight trip if you can. take the boats to Salem on the DE river. You can leave your rig there for a few days, no problem. Short hop over to the CnD canal, stop for lunch. then head down to still pond. on the way back, overnight at Mears Great Oaks, Jelly Fish Joels.. then head back to salem.

Just a thought...

I did mention I'm with a bunch of Fastech owners? Lol they don't go for the nice sleep over on the boat thing. I however would be interested in that but we just got a puppy in December and depending how well boat training goes with him is what we will be able to do.

sorry missed the Fast tech part. there is a hotel at Great Oaks, bar and restaurant. And the famous Jelly Fish Joels.

ahh the puppy! my kids want one sooooo bad they even suggested i sell the boat! depending on work schedule i might make this rendez this year. No trailering tho. down around the point...

For those not interested in or equipped for overnighting, there are several options. You are welcome to stop by for just one day (Saturday being the biggest); you can slip your boat 6 miles away at Mears Great Oak Marina where they have a hotel; you can run 25 miles back to Northeast and stay at the Holiday Inn Express, or you can run about 22 miles to Chesapeake City and stay at one of the B&B's there in town. There are slips and ramps at both Northeast and Chesapeake City. If all you need in the morning is a quick freshen-up, most of us overnighters have transom showers that include hot water...

Chuck,

At this point I will say we will be there again this year.

Chuck and Diane did an awesome job last year with all their efforts to coordinate this event.

I'm planning to attend this year. I didn't find out about last years until the day of and at that point I was already rafted for the weekend.

C_Spray - count us in! We had such a great time last year meeting the Formula crowd. You guys did an outstanding job of coordinating everything - still can't thank you enough!

As we get closer, if I can help with anything, I'd be happy to....

Hope you had a great winter.

We're in and ready to go - spent last weekend on the boat - wow, was it great to be back onboard!

Please tell Diane I said "HI!".

My wife and I would be intrested in joining in as well on our 37SS out of Middle River. We boat with Treads with the 34PC frequently and I know him as his wife went last year so I get the full skinny from him. I agree though why don't you have it sooner like mid-summer ?

The September date is based on a combination of cooler weather (no genny's needed at night), last year's event, and our schedule. Formula has it in their schedule as well, although they have not announced it yet.

There is no reason we can't have one of these every weekend!

If your interested in a mid-summer raft up check out the 2nd Annual Birds on the Bay thread. Date is set for Mid - July. If you need any information feel free to ask. We're just trying to boost our numbers from last year. I think a few of us might actually be thinking of attending the Chesapeake Rendezvous in September as well.

2011 Chesapeake Formula Owner's Raft-Up
September 16 - 18, 2011
Still Pond Creek (Inside): N 39 19.940'/W 76 07.550'
Dear Formula Owner:
We will be repeating last years' Formula Owner's Raft-Up/Rendezvous over the weekend of September 16 - 18, 2011 in Still Pond Creek. This will be a casual get-together with all activities planned by consensus of those attending. Formula will donate some giveaways and door prizes. To ensure that they send enough items, please confirm your attendance by Monday, September 5.
We will again raft up along the huge 2'-4' foot deep sand flat and use it as a floating / wading / gathering area. This is one of the best and cleanest hard-packed sand bottoms on the Bay with excellent holding power. For those with SunSports or tenders, there is tons of room for skiing and tubing a little further into the creek from the raft-up. There will be boats there as early as Friday night, and we will try to preserve an area for our group. It's a public spot, so there's only so much that we can do in that respect.
The entry channel to Still Pond Creek is marked on the drawing below. This channel is 6 to 8 feet deep at low tide and well-marked with daymarkers and "No Wake" markers. Make sure to stay hard to the right bank as you come around the corner and you should have plenty of water. If you have any doubts, call the raftup on VHF channel 68, and we will help guide you in. High tide will be at about 11:00 AM on the 17th and noon on the 18th. Tidal change for those days is predicted to be about one foot.
You may attend for the entire duration, both days, one day, or even just a brief visit. Friday and Saturday overnight stays in Still Pond Creek are optional, depending on your own boat's capabilities and your interest. If there is enough interest, we could consider making arrangements at a nearby marina like Skipjack Cove or Mears Great Oak to organize some shore-based activities as well.
To RSVP and/or submit suggestions for activities, please respond here, on the Rendezvous area on Formula's web site or Formula's Facebook page. You may also reply to C_Spray at msn dot com.

Still Pond is only 5 miles away; c'mon up and join us! It's free!

Still pond is much nicer and only 5 minutes away. It's the next cove and better yet FRESH water. You can follow me. From Kent Island it 1:15 hours away @ 20 mph.
